The Blue Ridge Mountains offer many views of rivers and waterfalls when driving through our beautiful area of the Earth!!

Loosely inspired on the title of the 1992 hit by the same name, my marbling paints created a picture perfect river flowing down through the middle of the silk scarf. The movie storyline follows two sons of a Presbyterian minister, a studious young male and a rebellious youngster. The setting for the film is Missoula, Montana and the time frame is World War 1 to the Great Depression and Prohibition, a challenging time for young boys to grow up and reach puberty. Maybe it’s time to watch the film!

The mountains of North Carolina have many similarities to Montana in the rugged wilderness. Waterfalls, mountainous landscapes, National Forests protecting said landscapes fill our eyeballs. Transylvania County has lots of waterfalls similar to the one above. Many of you may not know that I worked in that beautiful county for 17 years and my husband, Bob, and I still go there to hike on trails.

Therefore, I had fun creating this particular scarf series. Mother nature allows for dips, twists, turns, and quirkiness of paint to mimic her surroundings. Color hints of green for leaves, brown for rocks, blue for flowing water, and the white spray at each end, this scarf will be a fun addition to any outfit, casual or dressy!

(Artist Note: This scarf series and writing was originally created around April 2, 2024. Nothing could have prepared me for the destructive power of water falling down through the mountains and into the valleys on September 27, 2024. So now this scarf has a more somber significance.
